I was disappointed at how dirty it is.

When I compare it to say Madrid, or even NYC...for a small subway system, the TTC is embarrassing.

The missing ceiling slats in all the stations we were at, the absolutely gross coffee shops (went in to get a coffee at Bathurst subway station and turned on our heels. Newspapers all around one half of a table. It looked like someone pissed there and they couldn't be bothered to mop it up)...By the Way Bakery at Bathurst station looks like it needs a hosedown compared to what it looked like just a few years ago.

At Yorkdale subway station, we went to buy tickets..just as we got to the wicket, the attendant closed it, looked at us, pointed to the hand written sign he was holding in his hand, shoved it above the mouth piece, and turned his back on us.

Nice.

It's just sad.
At 3 bucks a trip in January.Radmilahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03066698122441059335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3727731.post-16223239016983546942009-12-29T11:03:00.001-05:002009-12-29T11:05:15.262-05:00I'm trying to fix my comments since Haloscan is screwed.
Hopefully, they'll be back up today.

Thanks for those to emailed me to tell me they were screwed.Radmilahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03066698122441059335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3727731.post-90028967916858849102009-12-28T14:01:00.002-05:002009-12-28T14:09:37.176-05:00
The Washington Post crowns ROM the worst piece of...architecture in the world.

The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. The hollow inside is lined with rows of razor-sharp hooks, which are designed to latch on to a rapist's penis during penetration. They can only be removed by a doctor.

The product will be on the shelves of South African chemists and supermarkets later this month. South African mother-of-two Sonette Ehlers developed the original prototype in 2005 but has struggled to get it patented and approved for sale, not least because of staunch opposition from feminist groups. Radmilahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03066698122441059335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3727731.post-78328500126628378292009-12-09T20:32:00.002-05:002009-12-09T20:34:12.928-05:00SADE'S SOLDIER OF LOVE

<embed src="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=9672074-f7a&new_design=true&api=null"width="450" height="36" allowScriptAccess="always" name="divplaylist" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
I like it.

via osalogRadmilahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03066698122441059335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3727731.post-21011359873551301642009-12-09T15:02:00.000-05:002009-12-09T15:03:05.212-05:00

via streets of BelgradeRadmilahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03066698122441059335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3727731.post-26400853283935147732009-12-09T13:47:00.003-05:002009-12-09T14:11:56.112-05:00From an article on Chantal Kreviazuk in The Star:

As advocates of War Child Canada, which assists children affected by war, she and Maida walked the talk with the hiring of their nanny of six years, Bibiane Mpoyo of Burundi.

"Living with a war refugee is really intense, it's a risk every day," said Kreviazuk. "And there are days where something inappropriate happens. It's not age appropriate, or I know that she can't leave what's happening back home at the end of the canyon on her way into our house. There's a lot of understanding and patience that has to happen, but what she brings into our lives couldn't be without her experiences and we're gaining something far more valuable than what is being risked."

I don't know if this is supposed to make us realize what giving, humanitarians they are...and that they "walk the talk"...but, what came to MY mind was:

Yes...it must be tough living with a war refugee...
...with all the "wah, wah, wah, I was brutally raped by soldiers", and "boo, hoo, hoo my whole family was slaughtered right before my very eyes" crying jags interfering with the laundry and school pick ups.Radmilahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03066698122441059335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3727731.post-41145157966200946032009-12-09T12:26:00.003-05:002009-12-09T12:44:28.631-05:00

Developers building condos on Toronto transit lines will now have to buy every unit a TTC metropass for a year in order to obtain condominium approval from the city, a policy critics say comes at a high cost and without proof people will use it.

No...but, for real...City Council is determined to drive (no pun intended) developers and businesses out of this city.

Councillor Howard Moscoe, however, believes it “will cause people on transit lines to abandon their cars.”

He pushed the initiative forward, which passed council without debate.
