I once volunteered for a program designed to "adopt" a family new to Canada.
The idea was to be paired up with a family new to the country and help them to learn simple things like how to do their banking, or direct them to services...help them with forms and so on.
At the time, they had more volunteers than families, so I never got to do that.
I guess that says a lot in itself.
