Barbra Streisand has a sister:

.....half-sister from her mother's second marriage named Roslyn Kind.

It's interesting to watch her sing and see the resemblance.

Jezebel covers Jeremy Scott: Yabba Dabba Don't Fashion.

I think the expression on this model's face says all that you need to know.

I take back the "20 useless feminine products".

#7 would have been totally useful before he strutted his "stuff" down the runway.

Are ladies self-conscious enough to worry that dudes will notice that the carpet doesn’t match the drapes? Yeah, probably. (Thanks American media.) Well, ladies, if a dude is down there and is commenting about the color of your pubic roots, rest assured, he’s mostly just disappointed that you don’t have a penis.

Whose idea was this?

Are we going to the beach, or to the Emmy's?

If it was Victoria Rowells', idea to wear this novelty beach towel...her stylist should have stopped her.
If it was her stylist's idea, he/she should be fired.

The last of these features is important with respect to unconditional parenting itself. Most of us would protest that of course we love our children without any strings attached. But what counts is how things look from the perspective of the children — whether they feel just as loved when they mess up or fall short.

I don't believe in unconditional love.
It's a crock.

...as I've said before...but, people still want to believe in it, and often fling the term around rather cavalierly.

...and as for "the perspective of children", that's a hit and miss prospect.
Some personalities are bottomless pits of need, and some are independent souls who need little "boosting". People are complex, and what you say and do as a parent is only part of it.

I love these articles that sound like; "all you need is love" to make a decent person.
I've seen some over-loved little miscreants in my time.
You need more than love, according to my observations.

Wiki says:

The Garden is a 2008 documentary film directed by Scott Hamilton Kennedy. It tells the story of the now demolished South Central Farm; a community garden and urban farm located in Los Angeles, California. The Garden details the plight of the farmers who organized and worked on the farm only to see it sold to a private contractor and threatened with demolition. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature on 22 January 2009.

The Garden includes interviews with Danny Glover, Daryl Hannah, and Antonio Villaraigosa. It is due for a limited theatrical release on 24 April 2009. It was released on DVD on August 18, 2009.

While reading various articles on this subject, there are conflicting facts being reported. Some say that Horowitz owned the land from the mid 1980's and this crapstorm started when he sold it, and other reports say that the city of L.A. owned it and sold it to Horowitz and then he tried to get rid of them viewing them as "squatters".

If Horowitz didn't own it, why would the City of Los Angeles sell land that is helping an entire community.

If Horowitz did own it, why should he give it away to squatters?

I'm confused.

(I haven't seen the film. But, from the trailer, it looks like it's got a slant.)

So, apparently...on my car insurance renewal, I've got the option of "Accident Forgiveness".

Yes.

Now, for a monthly fee I can prepay for an accident I might have, instead of paying for it 10 times over after I've filed a claim....and if I never have an accident, they get to screw me with my consent.

What a deal!

By 30, you should know:

1. How to fall in love without losing yourself.
2. How you feel about having kids.
3. How to quit a job, break up with a man and confront a friend without ruining the friendship.
4. When to try harder and when to walk away.
5. How to kiss in a way that communicates perfectly what you would and wouldn’t like to happen next.
6. The names of: the secretary of state, your great-grandmother and the best tailor
in town.
7. How to live alone, even if you don’t like to.
8. How to take control of your own birthday.
9. That you can’t change the length of your calves, the width of your hips or the nature of your parents.
10. That your childhood may not have been perfect, but it’s over.
11. What you would and wouldn’t do for money or love.
12. That nobody gets away with smoking, drinking, doing drugs or not flossing for very long.
13. Who you can trust, who you can’t and why you shouldn’t take it personally.
14. Not to apologize for something that isn’t your fault.
15. Why they say life begins at 30.

Serbian/Greek Wedding

I accidentally ran accross this video of a recent traditional Orthodox Wedding between a Serb (the bride) and a Greek (the groom).
Serbian tradition seems to dominate in the video and it's beautiful.
A must watch.

Heartwarming and heartbreaking story of Wayman Tisdale.

From Wiki:

Wayman Lawrence Tisdale (June 9, 1964 – May 15, 2009) was an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association and a smooth jazz bass guitarist. A three-time All American at the University of Oklahoma, he was elected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.

Tisdale died on the morning of May 15, 2009 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, where his wife had taken him when he had trouble breathing. Tisdale's agent described his death as a "great shock" and noted that Tisdale had been planning to go into the recording studio the following week for a project with jazz guitarist Norman Brown. As yet, it is unconfirmed whether his death was related to his battle with cancer. Tisdale and his wife Regina had four children.

...and some of his music:

On May 21, 2009, 4,000 mourners attended Tisdale's memorial service at the BOK Center in Tulsa. In June 2009 the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa announced that its new specialty health clinic in north Tulsa would be named in Tisdale's honor.

...and his passing:
