A few days after leaked e-mail messages appeared on the Internet, the U.S. Congress may probe whether prominent scientists who are advocates of global warming theories misrepresented the truth about climate change.
Surprising?
I don't think so.
Climate change, and global warming response is big, big business.
Taking advantage of people's fears has been successful business practice for centuries.

"Going to the subway last tuesday was problematic in St. Petersburg because trains got stuck at one station without any chance coming to others in time. The young buddy sitting on the rails was the cause.
As officially declared this was thought to be a suicide attempt but rational thinkers from the platform started giving him advices that it’s more effective for him would be to grab the rails with his both hands, then he would easily be approached to his target with the means of high voltage shock causing his suffering heart to go out of scale."
Oh, those helpful, and pragmatic Russians!
The only thing missing was someone in the crowd yelling out:
"Go ahead and cry, you'll pee less!"
or "You call that 'suicide', you're an amateur!"

The Heene's on Wife Swap...the kid who wasn't in the balloon today:
(I didn't bother with part one because it's just promotion for the program)
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
...all I can say is that everyone lives differently.
The Heene's live differently than most, with boundaries clearly not playing a huge part in their lives.

Mary Louise Abrahamse, at her Glo salon on Avenue Rd., is suing eight former staffers for $6.4 million, accusing them of stealing her business. (June 17, 2009)
The kind of person who sues former staffers for taking their own clients with them when they quit her, is the kind of person who loses 8 staff in a short period of time.
I can only imagine what kind of boss she is.

War of Pretension Finally Over.
"Beach Hardware," the sign says. "Your One Stop Beaches BBQ Shop."
The singular vs. plural debate was supposed to end three years ago, when residents voted 58 per cent in favour of "The Beach" as the neighbourhood's official name and marketing brand.
The follow-up came yesterday, when Councillor Sandra Bussin unveiled the first street sign to carry the designation.
"The Beach" says the sign, decorated by three seagulls in flight and a wavy blue stripe, above the street name "Queen St. E."
Whatev.
Being a west ender, I find this petty, picayune, piddling about whether it's "the beach" or "the beaches" really the business of people who have little else to worry about over their Fair Trade Organic Roast, and Hoxton Tandem Strollers.
Being the west ender that I am, I'll still call it the beaches because there's more than one beach..duh.

Photoshop Distaste
...so Photoshop Disasters points out that Annie Leibovtiz forgot to "sleeve it out" when she merged the two photos.
Do you care?
I mean, other than if you're a professional....big deal.
..I always assume that every picture in every publication is shopped.
Hollywood is a different dimension, and the people we see in magazines are not real.
I think it's the general publics' inability to grasp this fact that is contributing to the low tolerance of imperfection in society in general, and low self-esteem in both men and women.

Ikea Housewarming Party
About 30-40 people showed up to one of the living room/kitchen sets at the Ikea in Burbank, bringing gifts (mostly things from other departments at the store). Many people brought cookies and snacks, and games like Jenga. The party was cut off after about twenty minutes by the Ikea staff, at which point Agent Tuttle, the “host” of the party, yelled out that it looks like we’re being too loud and that “the neighbors called the cops”.
I know a lot of people find this kind of thing amusing, and hilarious.
I find it kinda stupid.
It's the sort of thing we used to do in high school...you know...go down to Union Station and follow people around with newspapers in front of us with holes cut out for eyes, or sticking people in the ass with pins on the crowded midway at the Ex (true, actually done stupidness, when we didn't know any better, and thought we were funny...and grew up right downtown with no organized sports and nothing to do).
But, these are adults.
I feel sorry for the Ikea staff who have to deal with it, and clean up after it.
As if they don't have enough shit to deal with.

"...singing O Canada is no longer a daily morning event at Belleisle Elementary. The school's principal has dropped it in response to concerns from other parents."
...I get why people are enraged.
It's the whole tail "wagging the dog" syndrome.
Why should a few parents dictate?
...and where are children supposed to learn the National Anthem anyway, if it's not going to be at school?
This is one of my pet peeves.
This country deserves some respect from it's residents.
Can we not stand up for the National Anthem?
Apparently, we can't stand up collectively for anything anymore.

"The Daily Mail has learned that, despite Miss Orr's claims that she is only 27, she has been more than a touch economical with the truth.
Records obtained in the US suggest that she has knocked an impressive 18 years off her age and is in fact 45.
Nor would it seem that Barbie is her real name. Until she set her cap at Hollywood fame, she was known by the decidedly less showbizzy moniker of Kristine Reinhard.
Records show she was born in New York in 1964 - although she gives her birth date as 1981 on her official website.
A friend of Cleese said: 'It's all very embarrassing for John. He's a proud man, but he is also a sucker for a pretty face. I think a few of his braver friends have warned him to be careful, because nobody wants to see him being made to look silly.'"
You know, I can't decide whether 27 in the new 45 or 45 is the new 27.
"Barbie" in no way looks believably 27 to me...but to be honest, lots of 27 year olds look 45 these days.
*shrug*

Abortion rates rocket to record high as Britain set to overtake US as world termination capital
...that's only because no one is counting them in Russia, China and India.
I love how the west considers itself "The World".
